TLT employment management training courses
Updated April 2009
“The policies are in place – it’s just that the managers aren’t using them” – HR Managers (too numerous to mention).
Time and time again we hear this cry and as Employment lawyers we spend much of our time helping clients manage the consequences of a reluctance by line managers to tackle difficult workplace issues (or we are tasked with picking up the pieces when an issue has been managed inappropriately).
TLT’s experiential learning courses seek to develop the confidence and expertise of line managers by enabling them to role-play difficult workplace situations in a safe and supportive environment.
Key elements of the programme are:
- workplace scenarios tailored to your own business;
- using your own policies and procedures;
- using other delegates or actors to role-play 'difficult' employees;
- understanding the principles of assertive line management;
- set in a framework of understanding key principles of employment law;
- encouraging mutual support amongst line managers.
Course design
Our experiential learning courses are specifically tailored to your business requirements. So we will:
- have an initial meeting with you to identify the particular people issues you believe your line managers face in the workplace.
These may include:
- managing redundancies;
- managing underperformance;
- managing absence;
- handling disciplinary investigations/hearings;
- handling grievance investigations/hearings;
- managing long-term ill-health;
- managing bullying, harassment or discrimination.
- spend time in your business to enable us to understand the business culture and environment;
- work with you to design scenarios which reflect the people issues you have identified;
- design a modular course based around the core people issues you have identified.
