Clare Hughes

  • Financial Services Regulation

Clare is a a partner and Head of Financial Services Regulation at TLT. She is a retail financial services specialist and a barrister by training.

Clare advises a wide range of clients, including retail banks, credit card issuers and mortgage lenders, on a broad range of regulatory issues including issues arising under the Consumer Credit Act, the Financial Service Authority's regulatory regime, the Payment Services Regulations and consumer protection law. She also has considerable experience of advising on the compliance and regulatory issues relating to the sale and purchase of portfolios, securitisations, joint ventures and outsourcing arrangements. She also advises clients on how to deal with regulators.

Before joining TLT, Clare worked at Addleshaw Goddard and spent a number of years working as a consumer lawyer at the Office of Fair Trading.
