Shipping Litigation

"Jeremy J Thomas is recommended for shipping litigation"

- Legal 500 2010

We have a reputation for acting quickly when faced with urgent action. For example, we can deal with time critical injunctions to freeze assets or to restrain legal proceedings in breach of jurisdiction agreements. We have extensive experience in all aspects of wet and dry litigation. Most instructions include a multi-jurisdiction element, and our established, worldwide network of lawyers, barristers, arbitrators, technical experts and other contacts means we are always ready to respond when clients need us.

Our dry shipping experience includes advising on bill of lading and charterparty disputes including cargo claims, laytime and demurrage disputes, hire and off-hire claims, unsafe port or berth claims, performance warranties, bunker disputes, general average, P&I and Defence cover as well as agency/freight forwarding matters, and international sale of goods such as commodity disputes, CIF and FOB contracts, trade finance and documentary credits, and freezing injunctions.

We advise on the full range of wet shipping issues including salvage and wreck removal, collision, hull and machinery claims, towage and pilotage, pollution, casting away, actual and constructive total loss (including fire), unsafe berth, personal injury/loss of life, and ship repair claims.
