Pensions extranet
Following the introduction of the Pensions Act 2004, trustees now have a statutory responsibility to have an understanding of the laws relating to pensions and trusts and the principles relating to the funding of schemes, as well as being conversant with their own scheme's policy documents.
TLT's pensions extranets enable trustees to meet the Trustee Knowledge and Understanding requirements placed upon them by the Government's Pensions Regulator by providing them with instant online access to their own current scheme documentation and other information regarding key pensions issues.
The pensions extranets contain an interactive trust deed and rules, which are updated by TLT whenever the content is amended. This means that trustees can be confident that the version on screen is fully up-to-date. The extranets provide cost and time saving benefits for clients by allowing trustees to access their pension scheme's legal documentation from one central site which is particularly useful for trustees of a scheme who are geographically scattered.
Key features of the pensions extranets include:
- Secure login
- Document vault of deeds and other scheme documents including trustee minutes
- A unique interactive, cross-referenced copy of the scheme's latest consolidated Trust Deed and Rules
- Useful links including access to the TLT Pensions team's regular briefings
The pensions extranet was highly commended in the Financial Times Innovative Lawyer Report - 2008 where it was described as "A ground-breaking resource for pension trustees."
