TLT invests in new City premises
19 January 2010
Award-winning, national law firm TLT is investing in new office space at a prime location within the heart of the City of London at 20 Gresham Street, EC2.
TLT has agreed a 10-year lease on 24,557 square foot of office space on the seventh floor of the building, immediately adjacent to the Guildhall conservation area. TLT has secured the space, which will double TLT's capacity in London, at a cost of £41 a square foot and with almost three years rent free.
The investment demonstrates TLT's intention to extend its service offering and further develop its capability in London. TLT's new office will be the flagship for the firm's Financial Services practice, which now represents over 35% of the firm's income, and will also support and promote the firm's offering in other areas including commercial property, social housing, IP litigation and private business.
TLT's Financial Services clients include Allied Irish Bank, Barclays Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Ireland, Nationwide Building Society and Fortis Bank amongst others. TLT has been reappointed to Barclays Bank's litigation and corporate recovery panels and has a 25-year pedigree advising the leading Indian banks on matters including structuring of transactions, subordination and cross-border issues, as well as ship and aviation specific finance. The firm was recently recognised for innovation in the Financial Services sector by the Financial Times' Innovative Lawyer Report 2009.
TLT currently employs approximately 90 staff in London offering expertise in banking litigation, professional negligence litigation, financial services regulation, banking and asset finance, ship finance, corporate recovery and insolvency, social housing and commercial property. To meet client demand the firm expects to recruit new staff at all levels in 2010.
20 Gresham Street offers a brand new, light and spacious open plan environment. The property has achieved a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating against measurable targets in building design, construction and material usage, which is the environmental assessment method for buildings around the world.
Managing Partner David Pester says, "Our work in London continues to grow in specialist areas, particularly Financial Services. We've outgrown our current office space, and it makes financial sense to invest now to take advantage of market conditions. 20 Gresham Street is a great location and space, and will provide staff and clients with a superb working environment."
The firm is looking to move its entire London staff, currently based over two floors in the historic Sea Containers House building next to the OXO Tower, into 20 Gresham Street by the end of March 2010.
