TLT advises international shipping container giant on British acquisition
11 April 2011
National law firm TLT has advised Denmark based shipping container supply company TITAN Containers A/S on the acquisition of Essex based container hire and sale business Boxtainer Ltd.
TITAN is the leading supplier of portable cold stores in the UK and is a growing player in container hire and sale, particularly for non-freight use. The company also has a significant container business in Denmark, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain and Sweden along with deports worldwide.
Boxtainer is one of Britain’s best known sale and rental groups of ex-freight boxes and specialises in both the hire of refrigerated containers and container-based site storage for the domestic storage market.
Corporate partner Robin Staunton who led the TLT team says, "This deal reinforces TITAN's position within Europe as a major container storage supplier and is their third acquisition in the UK, but not, they say, their last. It's also another example of European banks' support of mid-market acquisitions, backing yet another inward investment into the UK by a European company."
The deal was financed almost entirely from debt provided by Danish Bank Arbejdernes Landsbank.
TLT's corporate team acts for an impressive list of UK and international clients from major FTSE listed Plcs through to venture capitalists, banks and financial institutions. In the first months of this year the 18-strong team has advised on keynote deals including the purchase by WH Smith plc of certain stores from British Bookshops and Stationers Ltd (in administration) and the high profile sale of Sharp's Brewery to Coors.
