TLT bolsters private equity offering with partner from Mayer Brown
14 October 2010
TLT is significantly boosting its corporate practice with the appointment of partner Alistair Bird, a corporate transactional lawyer who specialises in private equity work.
Alistair joins TLT in October 2010 from global law firm Mayer Brown where he was a partner and had a strong corporate practice focusing on private equity and with additional experience in telecoms and financial institutions, particularly insurance. Alistair's experience advising financial institutions fits well with TLT which has a strong focus on the Financial Services sector and advises most of the UK's major banks and financial institutions as well as many of the leading Indian Banks.
Prior to his role at Mayer Brown, Alistair was a partner at top 10 City law firm Simmons & Simmons, where he spent four years as managing partner of the firm’s New York office.
Alistair's appointment means that TLT now has nine partners in its corporate team. TLT advises on the full range of corporate transactions including acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, group reorganisations, demergers, banking and finance, private equity and on and off market fund raising.
Partner and Head of Corporate John Wood says, "Alistair brings with him not only technical expertise giving us real strength in depth, but also extensive contacts across the private equity market."
Alistair will be based at TLT's new City office at 20 Gresham Street and will work with TLT partners Ian Taylorson and Richard Tall, who has recently been moved to the firm's London office.
