TLT appointed to advise on £16 million redevelopment
13 October 2010
TLT has been appointed to advise Flourish Homes, a non-profit making housing association that owns and manages more than 4,300 properties across central Somerset, on a new housing development of over 130 affordable homes in Frome, Somerset.
The 4-strong TLT team, led by Derek Moore, advised on the acquisition of parts of the site to enable development. Associate Christian Silk advised Flourish Homes on the planning and affordable housing issues relating to the site.
The development, which follows an £8 million grant from the Homes and Communities Agency, will take approximately two years to complete and will include the demolition of the existing 54 homes on the site. The building work will be carried out by Westbury Partnerships.
Flourish Homes is a member of the Aster Group, a partnership providing homes and housing related services in central southern and south west England. The group has assets exceeding £570 million, an annual turnover of over £81 million and employs around 1000 people. The group's operating companies own and manage over 17,100 homes and provide services to more than 40,000 customers.
TLT has a strong team of planning, environment, property and social housing lawyers who specialise in advising housing associations, developers and public bodies on housing development. Members of the team are represented in The United Kingdom Environmental Law Association, The Royal Town Planning Institute, The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
