TLT advises Tamura-Europe on Romarsh acquisition

06 June 2010

National law firm TLT has advised Tamura-Europe, the UK subsidiary of Japanese listed company Tamura Corporation, on its acquisition of the entire issued share capital Romarsh Limited, one of the UK's leading designers and manufacturers of transformers.

The acquisition is an important strategic step in the expansion of Tamura Corporation as a global electronic components organisation and will help the company to grow its position within the global technology and telecommunications market.

Romarsh Limited is engaged in the design and manufacture of transformers and inductors for the uninterruptible power supply, traction, renewables and other industrial product markets. Romarsh is based in Calne, Wiltshire and is a joint venture partner in Indian company Romarsh Elcomponics Technologies Private Limited, another leading designer and manufacturer of transformers and inductors.

Corporate partner John Wood led the TLT team advising on the acquisition, assisted by associate Alice Gardner. John Wood comments, "The acquisition of Romarsh Limited gives Tamura-Europe the opportunity to build on its current worldwide operations in Europe, the Middle East and India. The transaction also highlights TLT's experience in the Indian market. We're delighted to have assisted Tamura-Europe with its expansion strategy."

The shareholders of Romarsh Limited were advised by Burges Salmon, while PricewaterhouseCoopers carried out the financial due diligence for Tamura-Europe.
