TLT - a 'perfect fit' for trainees

07 October 2010

TLT has received a glowing report from an independent guide to UK law firms for law students. The Lex 100 guide described TLT as a "modern, progressive firm with a growing reputation" and praised the firm for the experience it offers to trainee solicitors during their training contract with the firm.

Independent researchers from the guide conducted anonymous surveys with trainees at law firms across the UK to get honest views about their training experiences. TLT has been named as a 'Lex 100 Winner' putting the firm amongst the top 20 in the country for friendliness and job satisfaction and TLT has the highest ranking of all UK law firms for its trainees feeling confident of being offered a position at the end of their training contract.

The firm has also been particularly highly rated for quality of work, happy work/life balance, its vacation scheme, and for living up to trainees' expectations.

Feedback from TLT's trainees revealed that they felt that the firm has a "young and ambitious feel". Trainees also praised the high "levels of responsibility and client contact" from the start of their training contract. Trainees advised the researchers that they feel that there is "much more optimism at TLT" than at their peers' firms, highlighting that one of the best things about TLT is "the friendliness and approachability of all, from receptionists to the managing partner."

TLT's HR Director Graham de Guise says, "Once again the Lex 100 survey has praised the opportunities and working environment at TLT and I'm delighted that our trainees are genuinely enjoying developing their career at TLT."

The news comes weeks after TLT was named as one of the top five UK legal employers by legal trade publication, Legal Week in its employee satisfaction report 2010. The report was based on a survey of non-partner solicitors at the top 75 law firms in England and Wales and the top 10 US firms in London. TLT was ranked fourth overall in the survey which asked solicitors to rate their firm in all aspects of their working lives including career development, quality of work and salary and benefits.

Trainees at TLT work in various teams across the firm's Bristol and London offices. The firm has trainee intakes every March and September and currently has 26 trainee solicitors working through their training contracts.

With expert supervision, trainees gain first-hand experience of the law and advising TLT’s clients, which include FTSE-listed, national and international businesses, such as Punch Taverns, Orange, Triodos Bank, WHSmith, Barclays Bank, the Co-operative Group and the Metropolitan Police Authority.
