TLT raises £8,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support at annual charity auction

08 June 2009

TLT has raised over £8,000 for its charity of the year, Macmillan Cancer Support at a charity auction held at TLT's Bristol and London offices.

The auction, which was hosted by professional auctioneer and Bristol stalwart Andrew Morgan, comprised 50 lots, all of which had been donated by staff, clients and suppliers. The most popular auction lots included a wine tasting event, a day's driving experience in a Ferrari, a top-of-the-range iPod, a Nintendo Wii, and a luxury holiday.

TLT launched its year-long partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support in June 2008 following a staff vote. During the last 12 months the firm has raised over £11,000 through a variety of fundraising events including participating in the World's First Coffee Morning, dress down days, competitions and sponsored sports activities.

Becky Leyland, a member of TLT's charity committee who was involved in organising the auction, says "The auction is my favourite fundraising event at TLT. It's great to organise an event where the whole firm can get together in a social context whilst contributing to such an important cause."

Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. The charity’s aim is to reach and improve the lives of every person living with cancer.

The auction is one of many initiatives TLT has launched over the last two years to support the wider community and the environment. Other initiatives include an annual "Green Day" to promote sustainability; improved facilities to encourage sustainable commuting; several staff volunteering schemes; and membership of the Legal Sector Alliance.
