TLT launches National Vocational qualifications

21 October 2009

TLT is launching a programme of bespoke National Vocational qualifications (NVQs) to support the delivery of excellent service to the firm's Financial Services clients. TLT has a strong focus on the Financial Services sector and advises most of the UK's largest banking institutions as well as an increasing number of international banks.

Through a phased approach TLT is giving all of its 200 junior administrators and caseholders in its Banking and Lender Services Group (BLSG) the opportunity to enhance their careers by participating in at least one of the four qualifications in business administration; customer service; team leading; and management and leadership. Each qualification is tailored to TLT's clients, values, and business systems and includes information about core principles including treating customers fairly.

The NVQs, which take between six and nine months to complete, are work-based and are assessed through both a portfolio of work and through observation by an independent assessor. Once completed staff will have a nationally recognised qualification, which, at NVQ level 2, is broadly equivalent to between GCSE and A-level. The courses are fully funded and form part of BLSG's structured career pathway.

The NVQs will be run by the West of England's leading college Weston College in Bristol, which is where the relevant TLT teams are based. TLT is launching the qualifications in January 2010 following a successful pilot involving 15 staff.

Banking and Lender Services Group partner Graham Walters, says "This is a win:win situation for TLT, our staff and clients. Offering staff this opportunity supports their career development and improves service delivery to our clients."

TLT's learning and development officer Vanessa Kershaw adds, "As a firm we are continually investing in our people as we recognise that upskilling our staff helps the firm to efficiently and cost-effectively deliver excellent client service."
