TLT expands banking litigation practice

24 March 2009

Award-winning top 100 law firm TLT has appointed Neil Franklin as an associate in its 50-strong Banking & Financial Services Litigation team. Neil joins one of the largest specialist banking and financial services litigation teams in the country, which has a national reputation advising major national and international banks and mortgage providers including Barclays, Bank of Ireland and Bank of India.

Neil joins TLT from Bond Pearce in Bristol where he was a Senior Associate. Neil has ten years' experience advising professional firms and their insurer clients on professional indemnity matters. Neil has advised on complex professional negligence cases that have gone to trial at the High Court and also on those which have been settled by mediation. He has recently settled a £6 million multiparty negligence claim. He is an advocate of mediation, and seeks to settle all his cases outside litigation.

Jonathan Hoey, head of TLT's heavyweight banking litigation practice comments, "Following a significant increase in client demand for our services we are further strengthening our already hugely experienced team. We're delighted that Neil is joining us."

Neil's appointment follows the recent recruitment of associate Richard Hayllar from the Bristol office of CMS Cameron McKenna.

TLT's Banking & Financial Services Litigation team, which operates across the firm's Bristol and London offices, has increased in size by 45% in the last 12 months and now comprises five full-time partners including three independently recognised leaders in their field. The team, which offers a bespoke service defending reputational claims and undertaking specialist projects with clients to prevent future claims against them, is independently recognised as one of the UK's top three banking litigation practices outside of the City (Chambers UK).
