Scam Email
20 January 2009
TLT is aware of a scam email that claims to have been sent from Richard Leigh of TLT.
The email informs the recipient that that they are the next of kin to a recently deceased individual, Mr Smith, and that by providing their bank details Mr Smith's substantial credit balance can be transferred into the recipient's bank account. The email also requests the recipient to appoint as attorney barrister Thomas Frederich who is purported to come from TLT.
These emails are not from TLT. TLT does not employ a barrister named Thomas Frederich. TLT does employ a pensions specialist named Richard Leigh but these emails have not been sent from him or anyone else at TLT. If you receive such an email do not respond to it. Do not supply your bank details.
If you receive communications from TLT and are unsure of their authenticity please contact Charlotte Sansom in TLT's press office.
Further information about scam emails can be found on the website of the Financial Services Authority or the Home Office.
