Announcement - Richard Flowerdew
02 July 2009
Sadly, TLT partner Richard Flowerdew died on Monday 22nd June following a period of illness.
Richard started his legal career at Lawrence & Co in 1970. Specialising in commercial dispute resolution, he had particular expertise in construction, engineering and the waste and mineral industries. He headed and led the development of the Dispute Resolution department at Lawrence Tucketts and played a central role in the management and development of the firm. He was a partner with heritage firms Lawrence & Co and Lawrence Tucketts before the creation of TLT in 2000.
Richard played an important role in both the legal community and the community local to him in Bristol. He was a Crown Court Recorder; a Solicitor Advocate; a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; a past Chairman of the Bristol Civic Society; and a past president of Bristol Commercial Rooms.
TLT's senior partner Robert Bourns said "Richard was an excellent lawyer of real intelligence and determination. As a formidable heavyweight litigator he had, over the years, dealt with many challenging commercial claims and he was widely respected for his vigorous pursuit of his client's case. He was a great man to have on your side and his wisdom and counsel was sought by many. He is missed."
Richard's funeral will take place in Bristol on Thursday 2nd July.
