TLT recruits insolvency expert from DLA Piper

23 September 2008

TLT has recruited "rising star" Abigail Hadfield as an associate in its partner-led corporate recovery and insolvency team. Abigail joins TLT this month from DLA Piper's Leeds office where she was an associate and a key member of the firm's national business support & restructuring team. This appointment will further strengthen TLT's reputation as one of the leading corporate recovery and insolvency teams in the South West region (Chambers UK).

Abigail has six years' experience in both contentious and non-contentious corporate recovery and insolvency and has worked on a number of high-profile and complex assignments. She has advised insolvency practitioners on the administration and disposal of businesses, real estate and assets and she has advised secured lenders on security enhancement and enforcement strategy. Abigail also has experience advising boards of directors and shareholders about trading during financial distress, formal insolvency options, and solvent restructuring options.

Abigail joined DLA Piper in 2000 as a trainee when the firm amalgamated with Leeds firm and Andersen Legal network member Garretts. In 2006 Abigail was nominated for a Rising Star Award at the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards.

At TLT Abigail will work closely alongside the team's four independently recognised experts (Chambers UK) including partners Philip May whom has over 20 years' experience in this area, James Forsyth who joined from Denton Wilde Sapte and has over 10 years' experience specialising in contentious work, and Peter Carney who joined TLT last year from Burges Salmon where he headed the firm's restructuring and insolvency practice, and associate Emma Hardy who specialises in contentious insolvency work.

Philip May, head of corporate recovery and insolvency at TLT says, " TLT has invested heavily in this core practice area over the last five years in order to strengthen our market offering. This latest appointment is an important lateral hire which will enable us to meet growing client demand for our expertise. Abby has a wealth of experience that will further enhance our already strong practice and we're delighted that she's joining us."
