TLT recognised in national legal awards

20 November 2007

TLT has been shortlisted for 'Regional Firm of the Year', 'Managing Partner of the Year, and 'Employment, Pensions, Benefits & Tax Team of the Year' awards in the prestigious 2007 British Legal Awards. The national awards, which are associated with Legal Week magazine, recognise client service, recruitment and retention of talent, strategic expansion and financial performance.

TLT's shortlisting for the title of 'Regional Firm of the Year' follows significant and sustained growth in turnover, headcount and expertise which have resulted in a rapidly growing national reputation in the legal market. Headquartered in Bristol and with an expanding office in London, TLT now employs over 700 people servicing a national client base.

Managing Partner, David Pester, who has been shortlisted for 'Managing Partner of the Year', is widely credited for the firm's success since his unanimous appointment in 2002. David joins an impressive list of business leaders heading up national and London-based firms, including Eversheds, Field Fisher Waterhouse, Hammonds, Mischon de Reya and Pannone.

TLT has also been shortlisted for 'Employment, Pensions, Benefits and Tax Team of the Year', which is a testament to the firm's growing reputation in these specialist areas. TLT's 23-strong team includes five partners and three "leaders in their field" as ranked by an independent guide to the legal profession, The team provides strategic and commercial advice at board level to companies including Alfred McAlpine Plc, United Parcel Service Ltd, Avon Rubber Plc and Merlin Entertainments Group Ltd. Other firms shortlisted in this category are Blackstone Chambers/ Lewis Silkin, Hammonds, Lovells, Russell Jones & Walker, and Sacker & Partners.

This nation-wide recognition is the latest accolade for TLT, which beat regional rivals to the title of ‘Corporate Law Firm of the Year’ in the South West Deal Awards, supported by the Western Daily Press. TLT was also was highly commended for client service in the Financial Times' review of innovative law firms earlier this year.

The awards will be decided by a heavyweight judging panel of senior business figures including Sir Martin Sorrell, chief executive of WPP; Guy Dawson, founding partner of investment banking boutique Tricorn Partners; and Jeremy Hand, vice chairman of the British Venture Capital Association, The winners will be announced at an awards dinner, hosted by comedian Jimmy Carr, in Old Billingsgate Market in London on 28th November 2007.
