TLT expands in London

01 June 2007
TLT has today announced it will join forces with the London-based commercial law firm, Constant & Constant.

This move will increase TLT's forecast income to £40 million and the number of partners to 75, representing the latest move in the firm’s 12-month investment strategy, in both London and Bristol, which has resulted in significant growth of the firm.

Just two years ago, TLT launched its London office with the acquisition of Lawrence Jones. Since then the office has doubled both its turnover and headcount. Total headcount across the firm has risen from 400 to around 690 over this period.

Managing Partner of TLT, David Pester, comments:

“There is no doubt that the London office has proved successful. However in order to grow at a pace that really takes full advantage of the market opportunities, to best serve clients and attract talented individuals, we needed to consider a second acquisition.

We targeted Constant & Constant as it is a strong commercial firm whose work in specialist banking and finance complements our own practice. It also brings additional resource in real estate, as well as further expertise in commercial trade, shipping, logistics and transport, meaning that we can enhance our range of services to clients. It is also extremely good fortune that that we are in the same building - we can increase our London infrastructure overnight without significant disruption.”

Richard Wilson, senior partner of Constant & Constant, comments:

"We are delighted and excited to be joining such a vibrant firm as TLT.

This will provide us with the resource not only to grow our traditional maritime practice but also to enhance our commercial, property and private client business.

Joining forces with TLT will widen the reach and scope of the combined practice, and enable us to provide the range of legal services that our clients demand of us in an ever more complex world."
