TLT reappoints David Pester as Managing Partner

06 February 2008
David Pester has been reappointed to his third consecutive term as Managing Partner of TLT by the top 100 firm's 75-strong partnership. Pester, who was recently named 'Managing Partner of the Year' in the 2007 British Legal Awards, will commence his third term in April 2008.

Pester is widely credited as the driving force behind TLT's sustained growth and increasing national reputation. Since his appointment as Managing Partner in 2002, TLT has climbed 33 places in the top 100 rankings; tripled turnover to £40 million, tripled headcount to over 700 people, and increased the number of partners from 29 to 75.

Pester has led two London-based mergers in the last three years, firstly with niche banking and financial services practice Lawrence Jones in 2005 and more recently in June 2007 with international commercial law firm Constant & Constant.

TLT's strategic industry sector focus on the financial services, leisure, retail, technology & media, and the built environment sectors has paid dividends. 65% of the firm's turnover is from its chosen industry sectors, with over 30% from the financial services sector alone. TLT currently advises 13 FTSE 100 listed companies and 12 FTSE 250 companies, plus other leading national and international businesses including Alfred McAlpine, Barclays, British Waterways Board, Lloyds TSB Group, Merlin Entertainments, Punch Taverns, Orange and Somerfield. The firm has been highly commended for client service by the Financial Times in its 2007 review of innovative law firms.

The firm has attracted leading specialist lawyers including significant lateral hires from Freshfields, Denton Wilde Sapte, Osborne Clarke, Clarke Willmott, Lewis Silkin and Burges Salmon.

The firm is well-respected in the market having won numerous awards and accreditations recognising excellent practice. These include Legal Business' Regional Law Firm of the Year; Corporate Law Firm of the Year in the South West Deal Awards; The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies To Work For; and Managing Partners Forum Best Management of Working Capital. TLT was also a finalist for Regional Firm of the Year and Employment, Pensions, Benefits and Tax Team of the Year in the 2007 British Legal Awards.

David Pester comments, "Our focus remains on delivering value and consistent service to clients, and on attracting and retaining talented and ambitious individuals to help us achieve our goals."
